Takaokaya is a family-owned Kyoto-Japan based company that have been producing handcrafted traditional Japanese cushions and futon beddings since 1919.

Handcrafted by our skilled Kyoto artisans, the Ojami cushions come in a huge array of colors, fabrics, fillings, and sizes to suit the different tastes and lifestyles.

The unique shape of this cushion is inspired by the ancient Japanese beanbag toy that is traditionally filled with azuki beans called otedama, or ojami in the Kyoto dialect. The Ojami cushion was created for sitting comfortably on the floor and can be used as a backrest on chairs, sofas, and beds. However, some of our customers have found other creative ways to incorporate this cushion into their daily lives.

Besides being amazingly comfortable, these cushions also add a touch of beauty to any interior.
